Lil’ Ziggy and I are in Ontario visiting family and friends this month, but I thought I’d get an update out as my little man turns 10 months old today! He is growing into such a sweet, good-natured and funny baby who makes me laugh all day long. You know, I always thought I’d be better with really young babies as opposed to toddlers, but I am finding myself enjoying him more and more as he grows older. I guess it’s just becoming more fun to be his mommy now that he plays and interacts with his surroundings.
Survived the plane ride to Ontario
The last time I took Ziggy back to Ontario, he was only three months old, and he slept the whole way there and back. This time, I knew that wouldn’t be the case, so I admit I was quite worried. No one ever wants to be the mom with the screeching baby on the plane, even though there’s nothing wrong with it ’cause hey, babies gonna babe.
Well, if you follow my Instagram, you probably saw that my sweet boy decided to wake up at 4 a.m. the morning of our flight and not go back to sleep. He eventually did go back down, but had to be woken up only an hour later to head to the airport. I didn’t get any extra sleep, that’s for sure. Our airport experience was smooth and calm, though. I almost forgot the car seat, thankfully Chris realized that before he drove all the way back home. That wouldn’t have been good! I wore Lil’ Ziggy in my Boba baby carrier so my hands could be free while going through the bag drop and security. I wasn’t sure if I would be allowed to wear him all the way through the security check, but they let me keep him on through the metal detector without issue. I wouldn’t have made a stink if they had asked me to take him off though, it would have just been a bit more of a hassle putting him back on while also trying to move away from the security check with my two carry on bags.
Our flight was delayed by about half an hour, but I was lucky in that I was seated at the back of the plane, and the last two rows ended up being empty. I spread out in one row, and another mama with a baby took the other. Ziggy was looking around and smiling at everyone, but soon started to get a little bit fussy. I nursed him for a while and he actually fell asleep in my arms for a little bit. And then I coughed, and that was the end of that. He didn’t fall asleep again for the rest of the 3.5 hour flight! He was really no trouble, though. I just had to hold him the entire time as he would cry as soon as I sat him in the seat beside me. Being at the back of the plane was great for soundproofing, and everyone around me commented on landing that you wouldn’t even know there was a baby on board!
Back and forth babbling
Just a couple of weeks ago, Lil’ Ziggy was making his usual hilarious babbling noises and I mimicked him. He looked at me, smiled and seemed to mimic the sound I made. We started this little back and forth, making the same little sounds, getting louder and softer, until he got bored and wanted to do something else. We do this often throughout the day, and the more dinosaur-y the sound, the better! I of course speak to him in English too, but it’s so much fun interacting with him this way.
Responds to his name
This one’s pretty self-explanatory. All I can say is it’s a lot easier to take photographs of Lil’ Ziggy when he responds to me calling out his name.
Cut his SECOND tooth (finally!)
After months of my little hillbilly only having one tooth, it’s finally getting a friend! He cut his second tooth just a couple of days ago, with very little fanfare. It does makes me wonder if it was behind his mysterious wakeup the day of our flight. He wasn’t particularly grumpy or seemingly in pain, but he just couldn’t settle himself again.
In any case, it’s nice to see him catching up to his buddies in playgroup. You know they compete in these things.

EEK! This is what happens when I take some time away from blogging. Babies grow up before our eyes.
Little Ziggy is gorgeous and is doing so well.
I’ve never had to fly with either of my children – I couldn’t imagine it (especially given that I’m a nervous flyer myself).
Thanks for sharing and happy new year!
xoxo

Thank you Jennifer! I think he is gorgeous too, but I may be biased. I’m not a great flyer myself, so I’m double glad Ziggy is such an awesome baby :).
