Baby Update – 32 Weeks!

01/13/15 | Baby Gear, pregnancy, pregnancy week-by-week

How far along: 32 weeks. Only 8 weeks left to go. HOLY CRAP!

Baby size: Lil’ Ziggy is about 3.75 lbs and 17 inches long. I don’t doubt it.

Belly: My belly pic seems to make it look like my belly is oddly pointy this week, but I think it’s just the jeans I’m wearing. I don’t think there’s a HUGE difference in terms of how big my belly is. It definitely feels heavy though.

32 Weeks

Sleep: Engh, I have my good nights and my not-so-good nights. Sunday night, I went to bed early and had almost a completely solid sleep for over 7 hours. Last night, I couldn’t fall asleep in the bed again, so I caught maybe 5 hours on-and-off on the couch.

Movement: I’m still feeling Lil’ Ziggy move all the time, and he’s the main reason why I find it difficult to sleep in bed. As soon as I lay on my side, he starts dancing. He IS, I think, running out of room in there though. Instead of great big kicks all the time, it’s a lot of squirming, which is a new and funny feeling.

Food aversions/cravings: None specifically. I think I’m all Skittled out for a while after a little Skittle bender this weekend. I find myself wanting to eat lighter fare like salads and fruit smoothies. I think it’s because Lil’ Zig is getting bigger. I can feel him squirming around my ribs, so he might be putting pressure on my stomach, and heavier meals make me feel uncomfortable.

Labor signs: I’m getting the odd Braxton Hicks contraction, but that’s ok. No other signs of labour yet. But when I do get them, I’ll know because I went to a prenatal class tonight with Chris!

What I miss: Still my ankles. They’re not super swollen, but there’s a definite puffiness about them at the end of the day. I try to put them up when I can but I’m also getting into clean-out-everything mode, so it’s hard to lay down and rest.

Preparing for birth: As I mentioned above, Chris and I went to a prenatal class held at the local family resource centre downtown. It’s hosted by the Fort McMurray Doula Association. I knew quite a bit about what was shared, but definitely didn’t know some of the more technical terms for the baby’s position in the birth canal, and some of the hormone names that either help us naturally manage pain or create a “fight or flight” response. I’m looking forward to the next class, which is actually entitled “preparing for birth”.

On the baby gear front, our stroller arrived (how fast was that!), so we have it set up now and ready to go! I’m so excited to start using it when the weather gets nicer.

There! We’re pros already.

I know the carseat adapter is in town as I’ve received the attempted delivery notice for it. So I’ll be able to grab that later this week. The carseat itself is on backorder but they told me it should only be a few weeks, so hopefully it’ll ship out any day now.

Our crib has also arrived, so this week we’re focusing on cleaning out the office and master bedroom so we can shuffle furniture around. I’ll take some pictures when it’s set up. It definitely won’t be a Pinterest-worthy nursery, but it’s going to have some fun ocean-themed items in bright colours for the wee one.

Until next time!

Monica
