Baby Update: Lil’ Ziggy is 3 months old!

06/08/15 | baby updates, Children, parenting

Wow, I can’t believe another month has gone by. Much has happened over the past month, and once again I am amazed at all the changes I’ve seen in Lil’ Ziggy – how much he’s grown, how much he’s developed and how much more adorable he keeps on getting.

Our Baby's 3 Month Update

(Ignore the dopey look on my face, I didn’t know this shot was being taken but it turned out great otherwise!)

The biggest development we’ve had since my last baby update post is that Lil’ Ziggy can now roll from his front onto his back. He did it a few weeks ago and for a couple of days he rolled over every time we put him on his tummy. Then, for some reason, he stopped and didn’t do it again until a few days ago. I think he just needs more practice and soon he’ll be doing it consistently.

His neck is now very strong. I’d say he’s pretty much past the bobble-head stage. He loves being held upright and he turns his head to look all around him. We’ve been in Ontario visiting family for the last week and every time he wakes up from a nap he’s in a new place, with new things to see and babble at!

Lil’ Ziggy is also making more and different sounds, and he’s actually starting to giggle and laugh. When he sees something particularly amusing, he lets out an incredibly cute squeal and several coos and hoots. I’ve been making lots of whistling sounds, and he always breaks into a big grin when I do. He’s in a good mood most of the time, which of course keeps me in a good mood because it’s impossible not to be when he’s laughing at bugs or his grampa’s silliness.

And speaking of laughing at people, he is now following people and objects as they move around, and staying focused on people’s faces for a lot longer than he used to. His eyes are following toys as I move them around in front of him. He’s not reaching out for anything yet, but I have a feeling he will be soon. He has discovered that he can put his fists in his mouth, so it’s only a matter of time before he understands how much control he has over them.

Finally, a big change from last month’s post is that Lil’ Ziggy is now baptized. It happened last Saturday at Chris’ church. Our boy was so good, sleeping in his heirloom Christening gown for the whole service and waking up but not making a sound for the baptism ceremony. He didn’t even fuss when the priest poured water and oil on his head! I was very happy to have my parents and grandmother attend, and incredibly blessed to have Chris’ brother Colin and our good friend Christine be Ziggy’s godparents.

I can’t wait to see some of his next big developments coming up. One thing I am nervous about is the inevitable teething. Zig is starting to drool more but he doesn’t seem to have any tooth buds yet. I don’t know much about teething as a whole, like how long the process takes before the tooth is through, how to tell when it’s starting, etc. I guess it won’t be long before I find out! Any advice or encouragement from my fellow moms out there would be much appreciated!

Happy 3 Month Birthday, Lil’ Ziggy! Mommy loves her sweet baby boy!

I feel like it was just yesterday that I was reading your birth story! Ahhhh why does it have to go by so fast? Since Claire is just a month behind him, I am so excited for her to get older and do these things! She has shown interest in rolling over and done it once on accident, but I’m excited for her to actually do it herself. It’s so fun to see them develop!

I know right? It seems like he is doing something new and awesome daily, and it’s exciting. It also reminds me of those early days when people used to tell me “it gets better”, lol. It’s so true!
