Baby Update – Lil’ Ziggy is Eight Months Old!

11/11/15 | baby updates, breastfeeding

This is just a quick little update, as Lil’ Ziggy has slowed down on the major milestones this month, it would appear. Don’t get me wrong, we had a great month. We went to the zoo a bunch of times, explored Calgary’s many malls and parks, and celebrated our little boy’s first Halloween. But in terms of Ziggy’s growth or change, here are the biggest ones…

8 month old baby

Lil’ Ziggy finally popped his first tooth!

That’s right! A couple of months ago, I reported that Lil’ Ziggy had apparently begun “teething”. He had a bump on his gum, but it was in an odd location – not where babies generally pop their first tooth, though it’s not unheard of or super uncommon. I figured it was only a matter of time. We had so many symptoms consistent with teething: rosy cheeks, occasional diaper rash, increased drooling, and of course general grumpiness. But no tooth came.

Then, two weeks ago, Chris brought Lil’ Ziggy to me in the morning, and told me that the felt something. There it was! Not where the telltale tooth bump was, but his bottom front tooth had come through.

And let me tell ya, that thing is SHARP. I had been struggling with breastfeeding for several weeks now, and that tooth was just one more thing to add. Nursing moms, I’m sure you know what I’m talking about. By struggling, I mean to say that while I am physically able to nurse Lil’ Ziggy for some time yet, it’s just wearing me down both mentally and emotionally.

He weighs over 19 lbs

Other than that, I’m just so blown away by how big Lil’ Ziggy is getting. He’s over 19 lbs now! I really notice how big he is when he’s laying across my lap, nursing. It’s truly amazing how much he’s grown since he was a wee thing, brand new. His legs hang over the sides of mine, and he can kick the arms of the chair.

Here’s a little flashback of a brand new Lil’ Ziggy and his daddy:

At the same time, when I just see him playing on his mat, it’s hard to really think that he is eight months old. Before I had a baby of my own, I thought babies his age were huge! It’s a strange thing, seeing him both as big and tiny at the same time. I suppose this is the beginning of seeing him this way for a lifetime.

I’m okay with that.

Congratulations on your first your little man’s first tooth! He’s adorable with those curious eyes cute grin. It’s amazing how fast time flies, doesn’t it? I was looking through some of my 2 year old’s early month pictures and thought the same thing: she was THAT small?

Enjoy every bit of these “little” years. Before you know it, they’ll be walking and exploring a whole new world

Thank you for sharing this on #SHINEbloghop, today. Happy you got to join us this week!

Thanks so much for your kind words, Maria! You’re absolutely right, the time seems to be flying now. Not so much in the beginning, but definitely as he gets older and does more. Thank you for stopping by!
